We Visited Family in O’ahu

Ocean waves crashing into the shore of the Oahu coast.

We visited family in O’ahu two years ago. We stayed for 11 days and had the pleasure of experiencing a lot of what Hawai’i has to offer. We went to a luau, visited Hale’iwa, Waimea Falls, Lanikai Beach, the north shore, and many other great places on the island. The highlight of the trip was taking a day trip to the Big Island. We landed in Hilo, drove over (and up) to Mauna Kea, then over to Kona where we visited Hula Daddy Kona Coffee, down to South Point where the water is the prettiest blue we have ever seen and up to the Kilauea Military Camp where we spent the night watching the glow and hearing the sounds of Kilauea. We spent the next morning walking around Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park and then headed back up to Hilo to fly back to O’ahu. Before heading to the airport, we stopped at the Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo, which is free and beautiful!
The best part about visiting Hawai’i was the people we talked to. Everyone was friendly and it was nice to be able to talk to the locals about their islands!
The only bad part about the trip was the fact that we didn’t see a single rainbow the whole time! We did learn a new word though: vog. (Volcano fog). It was pretty bad the whole time and we’re thinking that’s why we didn’t see any rainbows. We’ll just have to make a trip back to find one!

What Readers Have to Say

“…I wanted to say thank you for writing such a fantastic book. It truly made my whole trip… every beach, hike and restaurant I chose because of the book, and it never let me down!”
