The Jack Harter no door helicopter tour

The Jack Harter no door helicopter tour in a Hughes 500 is an awesome experience. Our pilot was Spencer. He did a great job of showing us the sights.

The mai tais in the bar at Duke’s Canoe Club were a waste of money. No booze in them! We complained and were told that they met the state legal maximum. Never heard of such a thing before. I’ver heard of minimums. The waiter was not pleased that we complained. Dinner upstairs at Duke’s Canoe Club was wonderful. We had the macadamia encrusted fish. The mai tais upstairs in the restaurant looked like they had more alcohol in them. Different bar tender.

Dinner at Kalypso in Princeville was good – especially the Calamari appetizer.

Our favorite snorkeling spot was Anini Beach on the north shore. We swam with a turtle. We also tried snorkeling at Hideaways, Kee, and Tunnels Beaches without as much success.

The Kilauea Fish Market deserves an “ONO”. Very good wraps and fish tacos in a rustic, outdoor setting.

Jo Jo’s in Waimea does not make malts so don’t go there expecting to get one.

We stayed in Building 8 at The Cliffs and were very happy with the setup. Our lanai overlooked the ocean. Supplies in the unit were very adequate.

What Readers Have to Say

“We are going to visit the Big Island this May for the 7th time. Your latest book is way the best guide we’ve used. Most of the other guides don’t tell much we don’t already know, but we’ve learned a lot of new stuff from you. My wife and I are both over 70…But we’ve done maybe 2/3 of what you’ve mentioned already…congrats on a truly awesome job!…Your guide is by far the best. Truly impressive photos.”
