We recently spent 10 days at the Royal Lahaina Resort in one of the two bedroom cottages. It was very outdated and the furniture was old and stained, the stove didn’t work (there were two hotplates set up for use), the refridgerator was not plugged in and had to cool off. We found a large cockroatch in one of our bedrooms. There were 3 air conditioning units that were not able to keep up with the heat. One of the bathrooms had cracked and peeling paint. We felt that we did not get our money’s worth for these types of issues. The only good thing about this was our room service was great.
What Readers Have to Say
“I just wanted to write and thank you guys for publishing the truly great guidebook, Maui Revealed. My friends and I just got back from Maui yesterday and we all really wanted to let you guys know how grateful we were to have this book to help us along. We are a group of 7 internationals (Canadian, German, French) an none of us are the ‘resort’ types, and Maui Revealed honestly helped us find the best things to do in as affective and fun a way as possible. Please pass along our sincere thanks to Mr Doughty, especially for the honesty with which the book was written. We actually had also along both the Fodors, and Lonely Planet guidebooks, but every single time we cross checked activities, restaurants, or beaches between the books Maui Revealed had more to say, far better directions, and more down to earth honesty. So thank you for helping make our trip so great. I wish all my travel books were as well crafted as this one.”
