We based our trip to Maui this past February around your Maui Revealed Guide book and could not have been happier. Thanks so much for your detailed descriptions and accurate directions!

A few things we discovered that we wanted to share: food is expensive in Hana and all of Maui, but try the Portuguese sausage from behind the counter at the Hana Ranch Store up the hill behind the post office. For $2.47 you will NOT be disappointed we were suspect at first, but after watching 4-5 locals stop and grab one on their lunch break, we have them a try and wee not disappointed! (Avoid the hot dogs and regular brats though)

Another very reasonable dining option was Aria’s Restaurant (2062 West Vineyard St) in Wailiku. We stopped in for dinner on the way down from the Iao Needle. It is a small place with 10-12 tables but very friendly staff and amazing food that is very well priced. We had a leg of lamb ($16) and the daily special (NY steak with shrimp and vegetables $26). Dessert was the “Frenchgasm,” (yah, like that)…and it lives up to its name. It is BYOB, and they do not charge an uncorking fee.

What Readers Have to Say

“We just returned from a trip to Oahu and Kauai to visit family. We had taken ‘The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook’ with us on a friend’s recommendation. We didn’t get the Oahu book since our family lives there. Well, after the Kauai book became our bible for a week (we commonly refer to it now as ‘the good book’) we bought the Oahu book for the family as a gift. They found all kinds of places they had never heard of!
