Finished in 2006, this resort has the most upscale condos on the east shore. The area is very congested, and traffic into and out of the property may be an issue at times. Once you are within the grounds, you won’t notice that much, as most of the resort is oriented toward the pool and beach. The rooms are richly appointed and furnished. They include dark, imported hardwood trim, granite counters, oversized Wolf ovens, etc. On the plus side, the bedrooms and baths are large. The baths have deep tubs and separate showers. On the negative side, the living area is relatively small. They didn’t plan for a dining area, which is usually just a small table often shoved against a wall (an issue if you have more than four people staying in a room). We were told that the developers planned to have all the dining on the lanai, but with possible passing showers that is not always practical. The oceanfront units have the best layouts with roomy lanai and dreamy views. Second story and above are better, because first story oceanfront units have plantings in front of them that may block some of your view of the beach. The hotel-type rooms have a coffee maker, fridge, microwave and are closest to the road. The bathrooms in those units have showers only—no tubs, and no coin-op laundry available on property, but they will change your towels.

The pool is the star here. It is a saline, two-acre, river-like pool that meanders through the entire courtyard of the property. One end is sand-lined for the kids (since the beach is not very swimmable), and it has two waterslides. There are three spas, each with a sandy bottom, and one is suitable for kids. The day spa, which is pleasant for a resort of this size, also rents beach gear and bikes.

There is a mandatory resort fee of $25 per day for parking, internet and use of fitness room regardless of the booking agent. Hotel-type rooms (395 sq. ft.) are $165–$239, 1/2s (898 sq. ft.) are $205–$419. 2/3s (1,279–1,853 sq. ft.) are $245–$480. 2-night minimum. The second set of phone numbers has one- and two-bedroom units for about the same price and a 3-night minimum.

What Readers Have to Say

“First off, let me say what a fantastic book. I bought it last year to surprise my wife on our 23rd anniversary and we spent a year studying it from front to back…Your book was so right on target for everything from the moment our plane touched down until the time we left. My wife and I had so much fun, that we are returning in December and are taking the children with us and plan on getting your Maui book too for some island hopping. Again, you made our trip the most incredible experience that we could have ever hoped for.”
