75-5888 Alii Dr, Kailua-Kona

Buildings A and D at this condo property are fairly quiet (except for the sound of the ocean), but units next to Alii Drive get a lot of road noise. The rooms are not bad, not great. If you’re gonna stay here, try to get a corner unit—especially building in A. Although there’s a/c in most, it’s not in the bedroom, and it may get hot in there (and not the way you intend). If you need a room that’s elevator-accessible, you want Building F. That’s because in the other buildings, during a fit of design goofiness, the elevator only stops between floors, and there are a lot of stairs here. Your other option is a ground floor unit in Building A or D for access without stairs. In either case, you may need a GPS to find your way around. 1/1s (620–630 sq. ft.) are $137–$299. 2/2 units (1,000–1,200 sq. ft.) are $299–$499. Those rack rates feel high, but few pay them. 2-night minimum. The second agent listed has overall cheaper prices and a 3- or 7-night minimum.

What Readers Have to Say

“My family and I just returned from what we had hoped would be a “dream” vacation in Hawaii. Thanks to your tour book it was that and so much more!… Because your information was so thorough yet concise, it was the only tour book we took along with us. If we are ever blessed to be able to return to Hawaii to explore the other islands, you can be sure your other guide books will accompany us. My only regret is that as we make plans to see our 49th state–Alaska, we will not have one of your books to aid us in the process, unless you are getting bored with the sun and surf and would consider moving to Alaska for a time!”
