This is probably your best bet in Lihu‘e (but it is a bit pricier). It has small, clean rooms and few amenities, but the present owner has made an effort with the decor and property. They provide free coffee and tea in the mornings.Rooms (108–250 sq. ft.) are $95–$125, kitchenettes (250 sq. ft.) are $115. Larger rooms (275 sq. ft.) with full kitchens are $125. The $95 rooms do not have a/c and are on the second floor, but they do have ceiling fans. In summer you will probably want to spring for a/c to sleep comfortably.

What Readers Have to Say

“I just wanted to write and thank you guys for publishing the truly great guidebook, Maui Revealed. My friends and I just got back from Maui yesterday and we all really wanted to let you guys know how grateful we were to have this book to help us along. We are a group of 7 internationals (Canadian, German, French) an none of us are the ‘resort’ types, and Maui Revealed honestly helped us find the best things to do in as affective and fun a way as possible. Please pass along our sincere thanks to Mr Doughty, especially for the honesty with which the book was written. We actually had also along both the Fodors, and Lonely Planet guidebooks, but every single time we cross checked activities, restaurants, or beaches between the books Maui Revealed had more to say, far better directions, and more down to earth honesty. So thank you for helping make our trip so great. I wish all my travel books were as well crafted as this one.”
