From the immaculate, garden-like grounds (complete with birds and koi) to the smashing pool area, this place works. The overall feel is calming. They have tons of artwork strewn around the Kauai Marriott resort. Marriott has an unbelievable circular pool with a bridge to the center island and spas along one edge. What strikes us as most impressive about the Marriott is the service. They obviously take great pains to provide whatever the guest wants and employees seem to show a lot of aloha spirit here. The rooms feature modern furnishings with a good use of colors and even though it’s been a number of years since their last renovation, the rooms are immaculately maintained.

They organize many activities, such as scuba diving in their pool, beach massages and private poolside dinners. They have many cultural programs on site and tons of activities (some free others for a small fee).

Kauai Marriott Resort is fairly close to the airport, so you will hear some noise, but it’s not bad—probably because the pool area is filled with the white noise of falling water. If you desire one of the poolside casabella chairs, it will cost you $95 per day. Cocoons (covered daybeds) in center of the pool are $85, and a cabana at the beach will run you $200 per day (they do give you a $50 food and beverage credit with those). At least they added more umbrellas by the pool that provide great shade for free.

Kauai Marriott Resort devoted 232 of their rooms to timeshares. The hotel-type rooms are only in the Ha‘upu building or the two upper floors of the Kahili building, so if you want to directly face the ocean, you will want the Kahili building. A convenient parking lot sits behind the Ha‘upu building if you are self-parking.

Rooms (332–520 sq. ft.) are $427–$713. Suites (1,000–2,114 sq. ft.) are $886–$2,600. Lots of packages available.

What Readers Have to Say

“Thank you for your info on buying your books at the inter-island terminal, I found them easily and purchased the Maui & Oahu copies. We found them to be so informative and we used them as our “bible” wherever we went on both Islands…I am sure you quite rightly get many e-mails like this but I just had to tell you how much more we saw and learned this time. I will definitely recommend to all our Australian friends to buy a copy, they are definitely not having mine!!”
