Wonderfully spacious condos, high-grade appliances and a great oceanfront location with lush grounds. Units have lots of glass and an open feel, but they are still private if you want. The ground floor units are a massive 1,700 sq. ft. 3/2s with nice kitchens, and the additional bedrooms are also good-sized. The shoreline from the ocean front units seems delectably close. Units 31–36 are considered “oceanfront prime,” but we feel that might be a bit generous compared to others in the same category. Upstairs units are 1,200-sq.-ft., 2/2 townhouses with the second bedroom as a loft—not quite as desirable as the lower units. All units have nice, large lanais. They have three categories: standard, deluxe and luxury (the latter completely upgraded). Since the overall quality at the property is pretty high, you will probably be just as happy in a standard unit for less money (though they have only a couple of those).

They host weekly mai tai parties with music and hula. Kahana Village is a good value for the price and a place that you will want to come back to again and again. There is a $25 “booking fee” and a $40 damage waiver, but no cleaning fees. Housekeeping takes place mid-week on weekly stays. 2/2s (1,200 sq. ft.) are $260–$575, 3/2s (1,700 sq. ft.) are $475–$790. The price spread is due to each unit’s quality rating. 5-, 7- or 10-night minimum.

What Readers Have to Say

“I just wanted to write to tell you that your Hawaii guidebooks are the best that I have ever used. I almost wish that you had them for everywhere I visit! On our recent trip to the Big Island and O’ahu, we purchased the Big Island Guide because the island was new to us and the guide had some very good pictures, which is a necessity for me in a guidebook. I don’t know anything worse than picking up a guidebook in the store that has all information and absolutely no pictures! It is not appealing at all and I have no desire to buy them. However, your guidebooks had great pictures to show us exactly what we would see before we arrived so that we could decide if it looked like a cool place to go. I also like the way the book is set up so that as we drove around the island, the sites corresponded with what was written in the book. It was also written from a resident’s perspective and let us know the truth about the location, unlike other books that only have basic information and does not tell me what is worth seeing or not…Thank you very much for your time and I really hope to purchase more of your guides in the future. They are awesome!”
