Wonderful open, plantation-style setting adjacent to Wailua Beach with very relaxing grounds. The Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau buildings are fairly close to the ocean, allowing you to fall asleep to the sound of the surf. Grab a beverage from the poolside bar (2–9 p.m.) and sip it at the beach, or enjoy live music some nights. Relaxing thatch-covered daybeds by the pool are free. The resort was converted to a condotel (meaning the rooms are all individually owned), but decor is consistent, pleasing and well-maintained. They charge a mandatory $20 per day “amenity” fee, which covers daily coffee, room safe, local and toll-free calls, dvd and PS3 rentals, internet, daily coffee and a few other items. Rooms are smallish at 311 sq. ft. and go for $319–$379. 1/1 Suites at 622 sq. ft. (with full kitchen) are $469. They have lots of specials, and few ever pay the price we listed (and we’re assuming you won’t either).

What Readers Have to Say

“Just wanted to say that my girlfriend and I are about to go on our first trip to Oahu and we have found your book to be an amazing guide. I have read several other books doing research for our trip and your book is awesome. We love your honesty and have made reservations with several of the activities companies and restaurants listed in your book. The maps are wonderful and we enjoyed your writing style as well :). Ok, just wanted to say super book, it has been a great help in planning our trip and will be a great help to us on the island.”
