Wonderful open, plantation-style resort adjacent to Wailua Beach with very relaxing grounds. The Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau buildings are fairly close to the ocean, allowing you to fall asleep to the sound of the surf. Grab a beverage from the poolside bar (2–9 p.m.) and sip it at the beach, or enjoy live music some nights. A relaxing thatch-covered daybed by the pool is free. The resort was converted to a condotel (meaning the rooms are all individually owned), but décor is consistent, pleasing and well-maintained. Rooms are smallish at 372 sq. ft. and go for $169–$346. 1/1 suites at 529 sq. ft. (with full kitchen) are $279 (very limited availability). They have lots of specials. 5-night minimum stay required at Christmas.

What Readers Have to Say

“I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! I have purchased 3 of your books, Maui, The big Island and Oahu revealed. To find the third one I had to drive to 3 different book stores, but well worth it. You guys are the only writers/locals I will trust. You are so right on with everything!!! Usually when we would go to Hawaii we would never venture off the resort, but because of your books we would eat at the best restaurants(and save money) and visit the best beaches. I also love the fact that you give us so many insider tips, from what to wear, to the time of day to visit something or what roads to take…I only have one suggestion, can you become experts on other places?”
