It’s a well-laid out hotel that sits across the street from the beach. There’s a large pool, a keiki pool with fountains on one end and a fire pit. Their fitness center is kind of small but functional. There is a massage hale on the pool deck and a masseuse on site. Their restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner because there are few options in the area. (The food’s not bad.) There is no alcohol sold here because the land is leased from the Mormon church. However, you may go buy some and bring it back to the hotel. The rooms either have two queen beds or one king bed, and there are some adjoining rooms. Modern baths have either walk-in showers (kings) or shower tub combos (queens). All rooms have a rolling, pull-out desk for workaholics. An acceptable place to stay and explore the North Shore. Rooms (299–399 sq. ft.) are $199–$289, suites (504 sq. ft. with a microwave) are $299–$499.

What Readers Have to Say

“Your book, Hawaii The Big Island Revealed, made our first vacation to the Hawaiian Islands a trip to remember. Every recommendation for food or hiking, or photo op was right on…thank you! We used your App on my iPad in combination with the book and loved the fact we could find “things” nearby and get a review on them. Storefront photos were a great help so we had an idea what we were looking for. We saw a few restaurants advertising “as mentioned in The Big Island Revealed” and smiled knowingly at other travellers (lots) clutching their copy of your guidebook.”
