The Big Island
A beautiful beach at sunset—many couples dream of such a background for their special day. ‘Anaeho‘omalu Beach is one of the more popular spots for sunset weddings. The Big Island offers an almost unlimited selection of wedding, reception and honeymoon possibilities. Although you can set everything up yourself using the internet and e-mail, it’s usually easier and sometimes less expensive to use a professional who can assist you.
The beauty of Kaua‘i has provided the backdrop for many engagements, weddings and vow renewals. And why not? It’s in the air here. People are genuinely happy on Kaua‘i, and the aroma of joy can make your life together even sweeter. Whether you choose a natural or manmade waterfall, a sunset on a beach, an elegant chapel, beautiful garden or an ancient Hawaiian temple, Kaua‘i can create nuptial memories that will last a lifetime. Some of the more popular wedding locations are at the St. Regis Princeville, Hanalei Colony Resort, Marriott, Grand Hyatt, Sheraton and the Waimea Plantation Cottages.
Maui is a wildly popular place to get married. Every romantic setting from a beach at sunset, a tropical garden or a waterfall is here for you to use as a background on your important day. Note that the state charges a small shakedown fee if you get married on a beach. Almost all the large resorts on Maui have wedding coordinators to help you arrange your wedding at their hotels. Be aware that site fees can be pretty high. Some of the popular resorts for weddings are the Four Seasons, the Grand Wailea, the Hyatt, Fairmont Kea Lani, the Westin, the Travaasa Hana, and the Ritz-Carlton.
Oahu, with its exotic beauty and nearly perfect weather, is one of the most popular wedding and honeymoon destinations in the world. And sunsets along the leeward side can provide a breathtaking backdrop for your ceremony. Some of the more popular resorts in Waikiki are the Hilton Hawaiian Village, the Halekulani, the Royal Hawaiian and the Moana Surfrider. If you prefer a resort outside Waikiki, consider the Kahala Hotel & Resort or Turtle Bay Resort. Aulani Disney Resort has fairytale weddings that they claim will allow you to live happily ever after. (Prenups are extra.)

When you walk in, you can actually feel the tension falling from your limbs. It soon becomes evident why. Here, they did everything right. The resort is immaculate and lovingly cared for. The smallest details seem to have been anticipated. The grounds are impeccable. Not a dead leaf or blade of grass in sight.
We’ve reviewed every resort in Hawai‘i, and this is the biggest kahuna of them all. On a typical day, they’ll have over 6,000 guests serviced by 1,700 employees, which practically qualifies it as a small town. If you’re looking for a pulsating, always-moving resort, this place hums. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, you’ve definitely come to the wrong place.
Only some units are owned while the rest remain part of the vacation rental pool. Furnishings are all similar and expensively outfitted with granite counters, wolf appliances and everything you could need in the kitchen. The doors to the lanai slide open into the walls in corner 2- to 4-bedroom units, so the square footages we list include the lanai on those units.
Where do we start? How about wow! This is the one you’ve probably heard about. This resort, built in the late ’80s and spread over 62 acres, is the most elaborate of them all. (By the way, despite its name, it is not located in or next to the town of Waikoloa Village.) Three separate towers are joined by a tram and boat network right out of Disneyland.
