Most units are timeshares, but many are not. The room layout is good, especially the third-floor units with lofts (many have been enclosed for privacy) and high ceilings. Buildings 8 and 9 are have a great ocean view (but vacation rentals are fewer out of those buildings); otherwise, stick with garden views since other ocean views are pretty distant. Rooms in the rental pool, from the first set of numbers, are very pleasant. All their units are decorated similarly. Their pool is really nice with a quiet pool/spa for adults and waterfall area for keiki. Lots of stuff is available for free at the front desk and their bikes rent for cheap, but you may only ride them around Princeville. They have a great bbq hale on the bluff by the ocean. There is a mandatory $75 per stay resort fee from the first agent listed to cover Wi-Fi, parking and other things you may have thought were included. 1/2 units (917–964 sq. ft.) are $375–$395, 2/2 units (with loft) at 1,231–1,282 sq. ft. are $435–$455. The second set of numbers is for Oceanfront Sotheby’s International Realty, whose rates can be substantially cheaper. They don’t charge a resort fee, but they don’t offer housekeeping, decor can vary greatly, and they have a 3- or 7-night minimum. From them, it’s a Solid Gold Value. Ahh! Aloha and Kaua‘i Vacation Rentals also have units here.

What Readers Have to Say

“In April we spent a week on the Big Island, with a well-thumbed copy of “The Big Island Revealed” always close at hand. It’s a great book, very helpful…I checked out every reasonably current guidebook in our library and studied more of them at the bookstore. Yours was the only one I actually bought. The thing that made it a sale, beyond your “tell it like it is” approach and your sense of humor, was your maps. I’m very fussy about my maps, and I don’t need to tell you there are lots of bad ones out there. And putting those mile posts on yours is one of those touches that seems obvious, once you think about it, but they are seldom included. I’m glad you did…Thanks for your help in making it a terrific vacation.”
