This is the only beachfront resort on the north shore. Some of their units are as close to the water as you will get on Kaua‘i (25 feet). We especially like units in A, F, G, I and the front J units. The resort is secluded and somewhat isolated, near the end of the road on the north shore. All units are two-bedroom (although the bedrooms aren’t completely walled off and second rooms have twin beds). Room updates planned at press time include new furniture and some kitchen updates. Their location on Kepuhi Beach is outstanding, and the attention to detail is admirable, but expect some rust on metal items in units. (Being this close to the ocean, it’s unavoidable.) While the lack of room telephones might make arranging your day slightly awkward, others will welcome it. Cell phone coverage may be spotty, depending on your carrier. (You can use the phones by the small pool, which is also where the laundry facilities are, so you won’t be bored between loads.) 2/2 units (850 sq. ft.) are $287–$482. Garden views are quite nice. 3-night minimum in high season.

What Readers Have to Say

“I just returned from a 2 week trip to Hawaii. I bought several books and became obsessed with planning the trip 5 months in advance. Then I discovered your books. I bought the ones on Kauai and the Big Island. Your insight and photos were incredible. As a geography major, I really appreciated the aerials and the cartography. I changed a few things after reading yours – added the Big Island to an already crowed itinerary that included Oahu and Kauai, but don’t regret one minute of it.”
