Located up Haleakala at the 3,200 foot level, this is the place to stay if you’re hankering to be close to Haleakala Crater, you want to stay where it’s cool, or you just want to get away from it all. No phones, no tv, no Internet and maybe no cell phone reception, but some expansive views. Rooms have gas stoves since the winter temps dip into the low 60s (summer gets into the upper 60s). Hey, that might not be chilly where you come from, but it’s considered the Arctic to Maui residents. Rooms are simple and quaint if a bit overpriced at $125–$220. No laundry facilities on site. On Hwy 377 between the 5- and 6-mile markers.
