Wailea Ekahi Village
(800) 367-5246 or (808) 879-1595
3300 Wailea Alanui Dr.
166 units, 4 pools, a/c, daily maid service, washer/dryer in unit, free Wi-Fi in rooms. This is one of the less impressive Wailea properties, although room classifications are more than fair with decent ocean views from some of the so-called garden view units. Also, the 34 acres of grounds means that upper village units are a 10-minute walk from the beach. These are 2-story walk-ups. Even units closer to the beach may be a 5-minute away. The rooms we saw were of good quality from the agent we list. The resort was built in 1975, so it’s not as pristine as others. This complex is fairly popular with families, and amenities such as a BBQ on each lanai, paddle tennis (short tennis court) and shuffleboard confirm their target market. Their covered pavilion by the beach is great for families with kids. You have access to a kitchen there, so basically you don’t have to go back to the condo to eat.
The main rental agent, Destination Resorts, has extra services, such as grocery shopping before you arrive, massages, free long distance calls to the U.S. mainland and Canada, and rental cars are available for $30 and up per day. Off-season some deals even include a car with your room rate. They also give you discount coupons to a couple of local restaurants.
Studios (600 sq. ft.) are $176–$300, 1/2s (891–1,180 sq. ft.) are $192–$400, 2/2s (1,505–1,945 sq. ft.) are $328–$685. 3-night minimum. They add a 5.2% “resort fee” to your room rate.
