2481 Ka’anapali Pkwy.

360 units, pool, spa, BBQs, air conditioning, sauna, elevator, fitness center, 24-hour business center, free hi-speed Internet access in units, daily maid service, coffee makers with free coffee daily, 2 tennis courts, day spa, elevators. This 1975-built property consists of two 12-story towers on delicious Ka‘anapali Beach. The services for a condo resort are admirable. The resort is well-run and friendly. Staff is excellent, many of them long-term. The pool courtyard looks very dreamy with large koi ponds and perfectly manicured green lawns. The pool is very popular here, but is very basic. Casbella chairs by the pool are free for the taking. In our last edition, this property lost its real gem rating because many of the rooms didn’t have the polish you’d expect at this price. On this visit, many owners had been upgrading their units, so we gave it back it’s gem rating. Make sure you ask for an updated unit. Rooms do have a great layout with a bedroom and living room sharing the view. We debated which ocean views were best and lean toward north-facing views because Moloka‘i looks better than Lana‘i from your large lanai. Oceanfront has the best views, of course, but the extra money is pretty painful. Some of the ocean view (3rd floor and above) rooms get less desirable the further back you go in the buildings. Regardless, consider the 1/2 ocean views instead of the 1/1s. Extra full bathrooms are about $10 more (a great deal). You have signing privileges at some other Ka‘anapali properties. It’s $12 a day to park. Studios are relatively spacious at 640 sq. ft. (and some have pull-down beds, offering more usable room for up to 3 people) at $339–$551. 1,114 sq. ft. 1/1s are $495–$594. At 1,118 sq. ft. the 1/2s are $415–$743, and 1,952 sq. ft. 2/2s are $595–$1,314. 2-night minimum.
