Updates to 8th Edition

The updates below are for the 8th edition of The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook. There are no longer any updates to previous editions on our site. Note: all pages numbers refer to the printed edition of the book.

At Wizard Publications we continually strive to bring you the most up-to-date and accurate information on the islands. We are the only publisher who updates our books every time we reprint them. So if you see the updates below already listed in the book you just bought, you may have a recent printing.

 

 

Timeshare Auto & U-Haul (page 21) is closed.

Kaua‘i Bus (page 22) changed their phone number to (808) 246-8110.

Weddings on the Beach (page 25) retired their business.

Grocery Guys (page 33) is closed.

The county recently decided to “fix” the enclosed ponds at Lydgate Beach Park (pages 27, 34, 67, 110, 178) by dredging the bottom to make them deeper. The result has been pretty disastrous to visibility and we’d recommend snorkelers avoid it for the time being.

Wailua Homesteads Park farmer’s market (page 40) is no more.

Business Support Services (page 43) changed their name to Aloha Business Center.

Kipu Falls (pages 70 & 71) remains closed and the land owner does not allow access.

Country Moon Rising Bakery (page 71) sadly closed. Also closed is Men’s Hardwear which was next door. And farther north Ship Shore Galleries is closed.

Eastside Cruisers (page 123) is closed.

Hawai‘i DLNR, State Parks (pages 124, 138 & 192) re-opened their office in Lihu‘e at 3060 Eiwa St., suite 306. Their phone number is (808) 274-3444.

Makai Golf Club (page 127) changed its phone number to (808) 826-1912 and on the same page, The Prince Course changed its phone number to (808) 826-5001.

Wings Over Kaua’i (page 138) changed their phone number to (808) 635-0815.

Da Life (page 139) moved to Lihu’e by Duke’s Canoe Club and the new phone number is (808) 246-6333.

Princeville Ranch Stables (page 161) has a new phone number it’s (808) 826-7669.

Ahonui Botanical Gardens (page 167) changed their name to Princeville Botanical Gardens.

Aquatic Adventures (pages 174 & 175) changed their phone number to (808) 639-9407.

Kaua’i Waterski & Surf Co. (pages 183 & 185) is no longer renting surf boards, and their waterski rate went up to $150/hour.

Princeville Tennis Club (at Makai Golf Course) on page 184, reservation number should be (808) 826-1912.

Icing on the Cake (Island Dining chapter) was replaced by Cakes by Kristin no chance to review them yet.

Jo-Jo’s Anuenue (Island Dining chapter) moved. They are now on Waimea Road in a little green building kitty corner to First Hawaiian Bank. Pretty much directly behind the statue of Captain Cook.

Kauai Nut Roasters (Island Dining chapter and page 56) has moved to Ching Young Village in Hanalei. Same phone number.

Brick Oven Pizza (Island Dining chapter) in Kapa’a we have included the wrong address – it should be 4-361 Kuhio Hwy.

Panda’s Kitchen (Island Dining chapter) was replaced by the chain L&L Hawaiian BBQ.

Sheraton Kaua’i (Island Dining chapter) is not currently offering dinners for two on the beach.

Spicy Island Grill (Island Dining chapter) sold their truck so they are closed.

Sweet Marie’s (Island Dining chapter) has moved to 3-3204 Kuhio Hwy in Lihu’e.

Tiki Room (Island Dining chapter) was replaced by the “Feral Pig”… haven’t reviewed that one yet.

22° North (Island Dining chapter) changed their name back to Gaylord’s and they changed their menu again.

Pacific Pizza & Deli (Island Dining chapter) owners retired and the place is closed. Also closed (sadly) is Hanapepe Cafe. Wish them a fond aloha. More closed restaurants are Jailhouse Pub & Grill, JJ’s Pizza Pie, Paradise Bar & Grill, Tiano’s, Scotty’s Beachside BBQ, The Eastside, TNT Steakburgers and Tutu’s Soup Hale.

Kaua‘i International Hostel (page 248) changed their name to Honu‘ea International Hostel Kaua‘i. New management is in place. Read our new review here.

Wailua Bayview (page 251) reservations number should be 866-975-1864.
